The Praise Page

Praise the Lord! The Prayer Page was initiated on October 14, 1998 and today, (October 15th) we are launching a Praise Page, to give people a chance to praise an Awesome God, who has moved in their lives for whatever reason. I will use a Praise Book until I master a form for you to enter your Praise Report on, it will be at the bottom of this page, I will also be placing some great links to guide you to other Christian Sites (this may take a few days).

December 7, 1998Tommy, my 2 year old, had his MRI yesterday and everything went great. The results came back and he does not have a brain tumor!!  Praise God!!!  They are going to check for allergies next.  Thank God it is not a tumor.  Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts regarding my family.  I appreciate it so much and know that God will bless everyone of you.  We are approaching the end of the year, and I have to say that this is the best year I've ever had in my 24 years on this earth.  God is so good.  I miss you all and hope to be returning to the Loop soon.  If anyone needs prayer or support, email me. I pray for you all.  In His Name, Jennifer

Praise God! Nov. 27, regarding "Marco" and his progress from Mary Jane
Dear Friends, This is truly a THANKS-GIVING!  Many many thanks for the prayers you offered and sent.  I printed out all the prayers, poems and good thoughts and gave them to Cheryl.  She was very touched and I'm sure it'll take her some time to read them all.  So far, there are prayers and good wishes from Australia, Ethiopia, Alberta, Ontario, France, Italy, Scotland, Great Britain, Ireland, Croatia, South Korea, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, California, Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Connecticut, Colorado, Utah, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, Washington State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Montana, Idaho, New York, Louisiana, Texas, Alaska, Hawii, Iowa, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Please-Forgive-Me-If-I-Forgot-Your-State-Because-there-are-a-LOT! I spent a couple of days in Duluth with Marco and his mom Cheryl.  I certainly had been prepared for the worst sight ever.  Fortunately, I was over-prepared! Marco is doing fantastically!  What a miracle!  This accident happened only two weeks ago and Marco has come so very far. Marco can SMILE - though only the very corners of his mouth curl....it's still a SMILE!  He's thrashing around quite a bit - a good sign!  If asked to lift his right leg, he does.  He even grasped his thigh to help with exercising. He squeezed my hand for "yes" when asked if he wanted his friends to come in - also when asked if he wanted them to rub is feet!  The drainage tube from his brain has been removed and the area is draining quite well by itself.  Marco has slight black-and-blue under both eyes and some slight swelling remains on the right side of his head.  He's rather irritated by his trachia tube and tries to pull it out a lot.  Because of that, his left arm is restrained while he's alone.  I imagine that he'd like to try to talk, but the tube makes that difficult.  Even with a ventilator in place, he's pulling air in on his own. The ventilator will be gradually removed beginning on Monday.  A shunt will be inserted next week and that will help to keep fluids flowing properly. Friends brought a CD player to his room and his favorite music plays most of the time.  Marco's room is full of flowers, plants, cuddly things and good cheer.  Through the use of CT Scans, it was determined that the bullet did NOT pass through his brain.  Rather, it entered about two inches above the temple, followed the inside curve of his skull and exited in the upper back of his skull.  This could mean that fewer of his motor, speech and cognizant skills will be compromised.  Be assured that this was an accident (albeit, due to foolish playing with a pistol).  Marco was not attempting suicide and was not shot by another person.  The particular revolver he had was different from his own rifle - and in a very important way.  His rifle's barrel turns one way when cocked.  The revolver he had in his hand turned the opposite way - not a common thing.  There was only one bullet in the barrel.  He cocked the gun thinking that the barrel would move the other way.  A friend got scared when he did that and hollered, "Marco, NO!"  Marco jolted at his friend's shouting, letting loose of the revolver and it went off.  A tragic end to a foolish prank.

I want to Praise Him for guiding me to this medium to help spread His Word. What a gracious and glorious feeling, to see the response, and know without any hesitation that He is honoring this humble vessel to be used for His Glory. He has blessed me with so many "brothers and sisters in Christ," many of them, right here in the fields of the Internet, toiling to get the harvest finished while it is yet day. He makes me more aware each day of His eminent return, and I am filled with the knowledge that there is a great need for haste. There is so much to be done, and so little time left to accomplish it all. But with Him all things are possible.

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

From Calif. Oct. 15, 1998 Hi Y'all!!! Just so you'll know that there is sunshine as well as clouds. Jonathan my youngest son, has been suffering from an absessed baby tooth.  Antibiotics and Advil had relieved much of his stress but we knew we needed to see a dentist.  For those of you on the loop -- my husband has been out of work for more than a year, is studying for the pastorate, acting associate and youth pastor for our church and immersed in serving the Lord -- this, however does not include dental insurance -- at least I did not believe it did.  A friend at church saw Jonathan's jaw on Sunday and told me to take him to his dentist (a Christian) and that the church would help cover it -- that's what being a part of the church family means -- we look out for each other.  Jonathan went in this morning, I filled out a credit application just to keep in practice.  They never told me the outcome, but I saw the response on the desk and it had been declined.  After a brief consultation, the doctor recommended that we try to save the tooth, referring me to a pediatric dentist that would do a root canal. I explained our situation and asked if, since it was a baby tooth, we could just extract it instead.  He told me the down side but agreed that given the situation this might be the better option.  The staff was wonderful.  The doctor drew me into a conversation that ultimately resulted in our testimony -- it was so awesome sharing the blessings of unemployment with the Christians in his office.  When we were through, I walked to the front desk to take care of payment and they all just smiled at me and told me to have a great day -- the doctor instructed that there was no charge for today.  I was blown away. I thanked them quickly and made a hasty exit -- if I hadn't they would have seen me fall apart completely.  When Jonathan asked me why I was crying on the way to the car, I had to tell him it was because we had just received the most awesome blessing. Jonathan, through his swollen, cotton-filled mouth, said he would pray to thank Jesus for blessing us and as I drove away, he did just that.  I have to write them a note and tell them how I really feel since I was incapable of such behaviour at the time.  I am overwhelmed at the blessing.

Second -- Mike is in Fresno finishing up his training for EE.  He stayed over till this morning to talk to his unsaved nephew -- it just so happened he had the morning off.  Jeremy was not too receptive, but Mike calmly answered all his questions and shared with him that he knew how he was feeling, because he had felt the same way -- in deed he researched Christianity thoroughly to be better able to persecute his Christian friends. Before they parted, Mike had had the opportunity to encourage Jeremy to base his beliefs on the subject on honest personal research and study,  not ignorance.  We will most likely send him a  Bible to help this along.  At the very least, he planted seeds.  They are now in God's hands and it is our prayer that they are in soil that is ripe for planting and that the cracks in his heart are just large enough to allow in the warmth of the Holy Spirit.  Mike has people in Fresno ready to draw Jeremy into a church and follow-up on him, but for now Mike just made certain that Jeremy had our phone number so he can talk to him further.  Such a blessing.   Lastly, last night as I was reviewing my notes one last time before presenting the program for the youth group, in walked a girl we had been praying for a month that she would return to youth group -- she is actually one of the ones I was praying would be there last night for the powerful salvation message specifically.  This was an affirmation to me that the Holy Spirit was there and this was going to be an awesome meeting.  In spite of my forgetfulness, it was a good meeting.  Sheena (the young lady) told my daughter that when she had gone to camp with us this summer she had felt an overwhelming sense of well-being and love.  When she was not in our midst, it wasn't there.  She had never been able to open up that way to anyone and she wanted to be a part of us.  More affirmation.  This sweet kid is 14 years old and 5 years ago her Daddy was killed in a tragic traffic accident -- she has a terrific supportive family, but there was a sense of lostness to her and it was at camp that she was able to open up and share this for the first time since the accident.  Praise the Lord.
