April 9, 1999 WHAT'S IN ISSUE #7? * Introduction
Introduction I want Oz to get an 'A'! And, oh, one of those gold stars." Salutations, here comes issue #7! For all you Dawson's Creek fans, we still invite you to subscribe to our very own DC Insider. Packed with all the awesome stuff you love about Buffy News and more, this free weekly newsletter promises to be a great one! Already, we've received positive feedback. JagXK884@aol.com writes, "Thanks for the first issue. I love it. I can't wait to get more of them." Subscribe Now! You might as well hear this information from me. On Monday, I learned that the original prediction I had made at the beginning of March has come true. We won't have a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode until the end of April. The WB has done some schedule shuffling and has postponed airing a new episode of Buffy until April 27th. Instead of complaining, I'm endeavoring to accept the things I cannot handle. But I thought we could do a little Buffy vote to hold us over until April 27th. I have received so much mail about this topic, that I want your help in deciding this issue once and for all. Try to think back to the last new episode of Buffy (it was a long time ago, so if you are having trouble remembering you might want to try some Gingko Biloka). In the episode "Enemies," Angel pretended to lose his soul so that he could get information from Faith about the upcoming Ascension of the mayor. Now here's the question: Do you think that Faith and Angel slept together in that episode? I say absolutely no way! When Angel apologized to Buffy, I believe he was apologizing for all the cruel things he had said, not because he had slept with Faith. But what do you think? You wouldn't believe how much mail I received from people who are absolutely positive that Faith and Angel got to know each other in a biblical sense. Could Angel have possibly betrayed Buffy in such a fashion? (I know he's among the undead, but he does have a soul.) What do you think? Vote here (at our homepage) and I'll print the results in next issue. Lastly, just to remind you all know, April 22nd is my birthday! Enjoy the issue!

Sneak Peek at the Next
"Buffy" Buffy turns down a big 18th-birthday bash in favor of a trip to the ice show with her dad. Little does the birthday girl know she must survive an evil rite of passage into adulthood. The ritual would drain her of her slayer powers and leave her defenseless in a room with a powerful vampire. To pass the test, Buffy must defeat the demon at his weakest moment. Lucky for Buff she's got the brains AND brawn to do it.
Last Week on
"Buffy" Evil is infecting Buffy's inner circle. First, Angel becomes a vampire and now Oz ends up as a werewolf. A heartless poacher is stalking Oz, so Buffy, Giles and Willow make it their mission to save their beastly friend. However, the poacher won't give up easily. His "get rich" plan includes selling werewolf pelts to Sri Lanka. Xander has his hands full with Cordelia's kisses, but he's more interested in the growing affection between Willow and Oz. To make matters worse, Xander accuses Larry (the bully) of being the werewolf. Larry misundertands the accusation and confides in Xander that he is gay. To Xander's dismay, Larry thinks Xander is gay too. Xander isn't gay, but everyone wonders what he did to transform Larry into a nice guy. For a full review, click here.
OOPS! After the climactic fight, there is a goof with the weather. In the shots of Giles in the forest, it's raining, but in the shots with Willow and Buffy, it's not.
Where Can I Find Them? Sarah Michelle Gellar Premiere Magazine, April David Boreanaz Bop, April & May Alyson Hannigan YM, April Seth Green Cosmopolitan, April Hot News
INSIDE INFO FROM "BUFFY"...David Boreanaz (Angel) shares the inside scoop on what makes him tick, tick, tick. His secret food phobia is liver and onions, the gorgeous one tells Teen magazine. The hunky half-demon especially hates liverwurst-and-onion sandwiches, which he says look like dogfood. You'll get no argument from us! So what does he like? Boreanaz enjoys driving his spanking-new black Mercedes, jamming to classic rock (the Rolling Stones, of course), singing the blues and reading anything by author Tennessee Williams. Could there be a turn as Stanley Kowalski in David's future? It certainly did wonders for a once-obscure actor named Marlon Brando....
GOING TO THE DOGS...Now that Buffy is the charm of the silver screen as well as the TV screen, could the golden-haired slayer be moving on? For $30,000 per episode, Sarah Michelle Gellar says, "Not yet. I love the show." Gellar recently told Entertainment Weekly Online. Gellar loves being on a cult hit: "You feel less pressure. And you won't get typecast, because you're not 'Rachel from Friends.'"
WORLD WIDE RECEIPTS...Sarah Michelle Gellar's latest flick, "Cruel Intentions," is raking in the dough overseas. In Australia, the movie has minted $1 million since its recent opening. The teen drama is slated to roll out in the rest of the world mid-May through June. In the movie, Gellar plays a teen queen of mean -- not quite the upholder of goodness and the role model of choice she plays on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." But rumor has it that with her daily dose of power yoga, Gellar has the energy to rule good and evil both on the TV screen and on the silver screen.
