Owners Fuel Consumption
Please email me your fuel consumption figures along with your present modifications and i'll add them to this page.

I own a 92 uk spec gtir. It's currently bog standard with a low power output. I'm getting it rolling roaded at InterPro on the 26 apr to hopefully sort this out. I currently get 19mpg in nomal driving and 21 at a constant 55mph. Is this normal? I bloody well hope not. I've read that a standard GTIR only gets about 150 bhp onto the road from the available 220. So I reckon you need an output of 250 to 260 to get pretty quick.
Darren Writes;
My car always seems to do 335km on a full tank virtually everytime exactly(no motorway driving.
Simon Writes;
Fuel consumption - £10 roughly lasts 60 miles. Thats £10 of super unleaded at 79.9p a
litre. Average driving verging on the enthusiastic!! i dont know the conversion rate
to gallons but i think its about 20mpg. Thats at 1.1BAR boost and definately over
244bhp more likely 260bhp (i recorded 244 bhp at 0.95 BAR).
Chris Lloyd Writes;
I went from 35mpg from my MR2 Turbo to about 25mpg from the GTiR.(i think he now gets 30mpg, i'll confirm that asap)
I do 70 miles every day down the motorway between Cheltenham and Bristol,
averaging 70-75 mph. I've just managed to do 263 miles on 42 litres of
unleaded. As there are 4.54 litres to 1 gallon, thats 9.25 gallons, so
giving 28.4 mpg average. Thats not too bad! I manage this week in, week out.
I admit, though, when driving hard you can use loads of petrol - i've used
half a tank doing 30 miles before!!
Its interesting - the owners manual says the tank only holds 50 litres, the
most i've ever got in, from totally empty (petrol light on) to totally full
(running down the side of the car) is 44 litres. Must mean that when the
light comes on you've still got over a gallon left.
As for using straight unleaded, i have no problems. Super is too expensive!
(Caleb writes ; I believe it is more important to use Super Unleaded on a modified engine, but i'll find out more)
Caleb ZuninoWrites;
I get about 210 miles to £14 of Super Unleaded but thats what a full tank costs me - Thankyou Guernsey!
