The 64DD - Japan only or a glimmer of hope?

According to an official Nintendo spokesperson, the 64DD may appear in the US after all. While Nintendo has been telling the press for months that the Disk Drive wouldn't make it to the US, now the company is saying that the 64DD's US fate will depend on its performance in Japan.

"Once the 64DD and distribution services are established in the Japan market, we will review our options," said a Nintendo spokesperson. "If we believe such a product can be supported by the US or European marketplace, we may reconsider launching in other markets."

The N64 modem is expected to be integrated with the 64DD as well, so US and European gamers may not see it at all, although a modem is expected to be integrated with the Dolphin's hardware. -Caliburn
