Catching the beat!
Revellers from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports catch the beat in perfect timing with the tempo of a popular Caribbean tune at the annual float parade on Wednesday. The band which was designed by Michael Khan and students of the Burrowes School of Art, depicted "Spirits in Unity Past, Present, and Future". The band sported some 150 Mash players.

Outreach ministries style:
Fifty dancers from the Outreach International Ministries church, in three segments, participated in Mash 2000 featuring "Kingdom Style". Here the dancers perform their piece for the judges in the National Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Another retinue from the 1500-member Rayon House of Fashion band which participated in the Mash 2000 float parade on Wednesday. These costumes depicted Love and Unity under the banner "From Whence We Came".


A dose of unity:
This was the Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica) float - a colourful Canje Pheasant said to be ailing and in need of medication named 'unity' for it to recover. The region's theme for Mash 2000 on Wednesday was "National Emergency: Unity Please" and the group comprised 80 persons.

The King of the Western Union Money Transfer band taking a break on Church Street while waiting to get on the Mash Route on Wednesday. Western Union, boasting some 400 revellers, and mashing under the theme `Western Union - Cash Craze' were decked out in costumes designed by veteran designer Bernard Ramsay.

Guyanese from all walks of life gathered in every conceivable spot to get a glimpse of the Mash 2000 float parade on Wednesday. In this Colin Harding photo spectators gathered on the lawns of the Army headquarters, Camp Ayanganna to scrutinise the revellers as they made their way into the National Park.
