LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN PARKER OF KNOWSLEY -

Wednesday, January 30th, 1790

This is the last will and testament of one John Parker of Knowsley in the County of Lancaster Yeoman. I direct that out of my estate and effects bequeathed to my son John all my just debts, financial expenses and the charges of this probate hereof shall be paid. I give and devise unto my son, James, an annuity, or yearly figure, of fifteen pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid half yearly on every this twenty fifth day of March and twenty ninth day of September for and during his natural life in case my estate in the house and tenement west after mentioned shall so long combined, this first payment to be made on such of the said days as shall first happen after my decease, and to be paid up to the expiration thereof, although the half yearly not then completed. With this payment of which yearly sum of fifteen pounds, I do hereby charge my leasehold assigns and premises situated about the south west corner of the Old wet Dock in Liverpool aforesaid, and which annuity shall be clear from any deduction of any amount whatsoever. And in case there shall be any arrears thereof for thirty days I do empower my said son James and his assigns to enter upon the said premises, and to distrain, and to sell such distress for such arrears and charges as in case of a sent charge or service. I do hereby devise the said premises and all other my , buildings, lands, tenements and in profusion revision remainder or expectancy unto my son John and his assigns during the term of his natural life, And from and after his death leaving any children or child, Then I devise the same unto and equally amongst all and every this children of my said son, John, which shall be living at the time of his death share and share alike as tenants in common, and if only one then the whole for such only child, and to their liens, executors, administrators and assigns during my respective estates and interests therein. But in case my said son, John, shall have any child or children married, and who shall die in his lifetime and leave a wife, child or children married, then the proportion of the portion or portions so dying shall go equally to and amongst his wife, child and children respectively. And in case my said son, John, shall die without having any children or children's wives, children as aforesaid I give and bequeath the same premises unto my said son, James, for his natural life, and after his decease unto and amongst his children, or to his only child with the same proviso in case of children's death leaving a wife or issue as is herein before contained in every respect with regard to my said son, John, and for the same estate. And in case my said son, James, shall die without leaving any child, children or children's wife or children I give and devise the same premises unto my daughter, Elizabeth Saslow? during her natural life, and for her own separate use, which any future marriage, And after her death then I bequeath the same estate unto and equally amongst the children which she now has by her late husband, and which shall be living at her death, and to their wife, child or children. Then the property or share of the portions or portions so dying shall go equally to and amongst his or their wife, child or children respectively. And I do hereby bequeath unto my nephew, William Parker, son of my brother Thomas Parker, ten pounds, and to William Tarleton of Liverpool aforesaid Watchmaker ten pounds to be paid out of what I have given to my son, John. And lastly hereby revoking all former wills and codicils I do hereby bequeath unto my said son, John and to his executors, administrators and assigns All my household goods, furniture and the residue and remainder of my estate of what or kind soever and whomsoever, And do appoint my said son, James, the said William Parker and William Tarleton and Daniel Smith of Huyton in the aforesaid County Toolmaker Executor of this my will. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said John Parker as his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request, and in his presence have witnessed the same.
