Are you my mother? - Posted by Diony
Several dragons found themselves unexpected mothers yesterday, with rumour of more expecting. Enormous papier mache eggs, some bearing strange similarities to eggs from Zivath's clutch, others proving true the adage 'a shell only a mother could love', appeared by selected dragons, in the bowl, at the feeding grounds, one magickly appearing in a weyr high on the northern face -- wherever they slept.

The reception varied in line with the dragon's maternal instincts (and the paint job, some say).  It's rumoured that Tylenth is so attached to her egg that A'razi will be sleeping in the candidate barracks tonight.  Another rumour hints that Audath showed such disinterest in his egg that M'rika appointed Arial the foster mother (one can only conjecture as to why she should choose Arial -- Faranth knows, she hasn't got a maternal bone in her body.  Could it be that she is one of the perpetrators?  Perhaps the ringleader?  The drduges whisper this is so, but we know how reliable they are!).

So will Tylenth relinquish her egg or will she roll over one night and squish it to pieces?  Will Arial be able to incubate Audath's egg to hatching before her hips give out?  For these and other fascinating tidbits, stay tuned.
 

Riders gone insane -  Posted by A’razi
A'razi, apparently having lost it with the latest Candidate prank, stalked into the Candidate barracks and rather creatively redecorated the place.
With the help of Jman Smith Taj, he transformed all the cot frames into futon frames. Then he repainted the walls in such grairsh shades that even the colorblind would get nightmares from the clashing results. In the meantime, all the sheets and a lot of Candie clothing was redyed into equally hideous tones.
The Barracks now resemble a war-zone, and A'razi went back out to try once again to convince Tylenth to relinquish the paper mache egg she thinks is really hers.
 

Colorful MESS - Posted by me
Well, well - what a mess in the Living Caverns t’day. Any idea what could create a swirling muddle of a rainbow of dye colors, mop water, smooshed bubblies, flour and sweetener? Hrrm, let me think now - Sabria’s evil twin Sabby for starters, followed closely behind by Karise..both bearing a large quantity of dye bombs, enough to nearly drown the candidates as well as any riders who happened to step into the war zone. Sabby made a detour to the candidate barracks as well so who knows how many sleeping victims she found.

See Caz and Muireann were having a friendly chat about fishing while finishing up chores, Myrrdin was busy tasting the mop and mop water when in waltzed the dye bombing Sabby! Upon realizing what was happening Muire and Caz immediately sought revenge and first to be hurled was the contains of the mop pail, wasn’t long before bubblies joined the candidates ammunition. Soon flour was brought from the kitchen and an unsuspecting L’der was the first to be christened with the heavenly powder. Echoes of laughter were heard as dye bombs and flour and shortly after that sweetener were hurled about the Living Cavern while folks struggled to remain standing amidst the sticky gunk on the floor.

Hmm, maybe Sabby’s intent was to redecorate the place? It’s certainly redecorated, but who will be the lucky folks sent to clean it?

GOURDS
Gourdie
The smooth husk of this gourd has also been attacked with a vengence by a candidate.  Reddish-gold paint covers the top and back of the poor gourd, resmebling hair.  Thin lines are cut into the painted area so that highlights shimmer with light when the candle is lit.  Delicate features are carved out as well, the resemblence to M'rika uncanny.  A delicate almost invisible cut around the stem of the gourd creates the top of the opening for the hollowed out gourd.  The candle inside flickers and dances inside as the warm glow escapes through the deftly carved slits.

Talina's Gourd
It was your normal gourd before some knife-wielding candidate hacked and sliced it into something resembling a face. A cute upturned nose with what looks like cinnamon sprinkled in lieu of freckles. Large, vague slant to the eyes shine since the strange artist decreed it to be a glow basket in disguise and put several glows inside. Something wrong with the back though. There are several holes and for what reason doesn't become obvious until a breeze passes by. A soft sounds of whistling emit from the gourd almost like a scarf you know.

L'der Gourd
This gourd has straw poked into the rim to resemble blonde hair, a dribble of green touches the cut outs that represent the eyes of this remarkable construction.  The top of the gourd has been removed and the insides cleaned out.  A protrusion has been made to look like a nose, though it sticks out several inches and dominates the gourd.  The more you look at this creation the more you start to recognize who it's made to represent!  There are even little dots made to resemble frekles sprinkled here and there!

Elisandra Gourd
A slightly mishappen gourd with carving cut into it.  Upon close examination some fleeting resemblance to Elisandra can be seen, that is if you squint, stand 8 feet away and it's a dark night.  The top has been cut out and the insides have been removed.  A candle has been placed inside this mishappen thing and the light generated casts spooky shadows.  If one gets close enough to this interesting object de arte you can only shake your head in wonder at how the artiste thought the resemblance  to Elisandra is anything but passing.

Wherry Printed Gourd
This gourd's surface shines with wherry tracks done in orange, peasoup green and shocking fushia with the tiny dot of electric blue to make it safe. Something strange and familiar about the eyes, nose and mouth carved into the gourd by some raving loon of a candidate. The subject might have been Ruthan by breed, but would they have picked such colors to dress in. Surely not! Top of the gourd is missing completely and resting in its place is a wild puce hat complete with yellow dots.
Maybe Sabria did loose her gourd after all?

Row's Gourd
If the overly curvy nature of this gourd doesn't give away who the rider is it's based on the placard standing before it does.  The carefully stiffened hide bares the name of the owner of the gourd, Rowena.  The yellowish-orange husk is whole except for the side facing out, where a seductive silhouette is carved.  The model used is obviously a vamp, one hand behind her head pushing up curling hair and the other hand rests on a jutted hip.  The figure seems to dance and sway in the flickering candlelight, adding to the sensuality of the overall piece.

A'razi Gourd
Hollowed out and carved, the gourd's surface just *might* pass as an image of A'razi. Painted around the edges of the eyeholes are emerald and cobalt, one eye blue, the other green. Dried grass, a burnt copper-orange, has been stuck here and there along the back of the gourd, the rider's 'hair.' Tendrils of the grass hangs over the holes serving as eyes -- bangs, prehaps? Braided strands of the same grass hangs down the side of the gourd, decorated with little spolches of puce, mauve, olive, and sickly purple. The Candidate-turned-artisan seems to have an ubsurdly unique sense of color.
