My Background

You may or may not want to know about the person who developed this site, but here it is anyway. I am not the best kayaker in the world, nor am I the most knowledgeable, but I do have a few years and a variety of experiences to draw on. Below, you'll find a little bit about me.
Educational Background

B.S. and MS. degrees in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, Connecticut

Sixth year certificate and Ph.D from The University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut

Present Status

Retired from Eastern Connecticut State University where I was a Full Professor and Chairman of the Communications Department. Given the rank of Professor Emeritus upon my retirement 

Kayaking Experience

The following list of experiences may be much more impressive looking than they truly are, but they do indicate that I have a breadth of experiences which qualify me to provide information about kayaking in the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area.

Member of the Governing Body for the United States National Sprint Kayak and Canoe Team for three years

Vice-Commodore of the New England Division of the American Canoe Association for three years

Chairman of the Olympic Paddling Committee for the New England Division of the American Canoe Association for three years

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Columbia Canoe Club in Mansfield, Connecticut for five years

Member of the Columbia Canoe Club for approximately fifteen years

Registered Maine Guide for Recreation and Sea Kayaking since 1992

Instructor for five sea kayak clinics sponsored by the Bar Harbor YMCA

Organizer of two demonstrations on behalf of the National Sprint Kayak and Canoe Team

1986 United States Canoe Association National Marathon Champion in ICF K-2 paddling with partner Steve Smith, Assistant Dean of Education at the University of Connecticut

Extensive Marathon and sprint racing in well over 100 races
