Chris Skelton conducted this interview with Florencia following her loss to Martina Hingis...
Skelton: Florencia, you seemed very frustrated on the court today. Was that because you were frustrated with your errors or because of Martina's game?
Flo: She played well but it was because of my errors I planned to play a good match this morning and I thought it would be a different match. I made a lot of unforced errors and I think I think I didn't play the way I should have played, tactically I mean.
Skelton: You took a little bit of frustration out on the umpire. Did you think some of the calls were bad?
Flo: Yes, there were so many bad calls. I don't think it would have changed something but there were some certain times when they were on the line and they called it out.
Skelton: Last year you were ranked, you got as high as 26, now you're number 70; what do you think it will take to get you up again?
Flo: To win a couple of more matches. I am playing much better than last year when I was ranked 26 so I think if I play and win some more matches, I'm going to be very good. I'm sure about that because I think I'm palying much better than last year.
Skelton: Do you have a coach?
Flo: Yes, not here. He couldn't come this time as he has some personal problems.
Skelton: Will he be at the US Open with you?
Flo: No, he's not coming this time.
Skelton: What do you do? Do you practise with other Argentinian players?
Flo: With other players (not necessarily Argentine).
Skelton: Who will you be playing doubles with at the US Open?
Flo: With Patricia (Hy-Boulais).
Skelton: What will you do for the rest of the week?
Flo:I'm leaving tomorrow night for Miami. I'm going to practice there for a week with some players and then next Thursday I'm going to fly to New York.
Skelton: Did you ever manage to get to Niagara Falls?
Flo: No, I'm going to go tomorrow I think.
Skelton: Oh good!
Flo: I went there three or four years ago just for holidays so I've been there, so maybe tomorrow I'm going to go again.
Skelton: And fly out from Buffalo?
Flo: Yes.
Skelton: Good idea! How did you get involved with Patricia?
Flo: We spoke at Wimbledon. I asked her if she wanted to play because I played for four years with a French girl (Alexia Dechaume-Balleret) and after Wimbledon we decided that we wouldn't continue to play again because we weren't playing very good together, so I went and asked Patricia if she wanted to play with me and she said yes so we decided to play these two tournaments together.
Skelton: You live in Buenos Aires.
Flo: Yes, I live in Buenos Aires.
Skelton: Are you on friendly terms with Gabriela?
Flo: I am yes.
Skelton: What about Patricia Tarabini?
Flo: Yes, I'm a good friend of hers.
