The
Family of Minnie Ethel Abee Glenn
I
am the youngest daughter of Ethel Abee Glenn
The Aebi Family
name can be found in the 900's as part of the Celtic
Boii Tribe
and was well known
in Switzerland during the 1300's and 1400's
They were Catholic
clergy, millers, bankers, engineers.
They became involved
in the Anabaptist movement as Mennonites during
the Reformation
period. Theodorus Aebi (Eby) was persecuted for these beliefs and
came to America at the invitation of William Penn.
He arrived in
Pennsylvania in Aug. 1717, and settled in Lancaster Co.PA
The spelling of
the name took many forms, Aebi, Eby,Aby, Eaby, and Abee to name a few.
