All About Me

Cactus League Baseball

You can't live in Arizona and not love Cactus League Baseball. I mean the idea of kids getting their chance to play on a Major League ball club... the opportunity to watch the big leagues for pennies on the dollar of a regular season game... the chance to see Michael Jordan and Garth Brooks in skin tight pants (okay that one isn't so much for me)... everything about the spring training Cactus League is fun. Even though I am about the biggest NON-Baseball fan you'll find, even I enjoyed the spring training atmosphere. Okay mostly the college students in short shorts and a bra trying to catch the eye of a ball player, but the game was pretty cool too. Anyway I managed to point the camera to the field most of the time (demonstrating great restraint on my part, doncha think?!) so here are the pictures of our day at Pheonix Municipal Stadium to watch the Anaheim Angels take on the Oakland A's.

Here is a picture of the Papago Mountains (left) which create the picturesque backdrop for the stadium, and the view of the stadium from above (right) as you cross the walkway to the stadium.

This is obviously the sign above the box office, and on the right the kids meeting Stomper, the Oakland A's mascot (from left to right: Kyle, Nate, their cousin Sara, and Danny at bottom facing away from the camera)

Here are pictures of the stadium, from the main stadium entrance (left) and from the first base side with the Papagos in the background (right).

These are pictures of the pitcher warming up (left), and the Angels taking the field after winning the game 8-7 on a 9'th inning 3-run homer.
