Pontiac,MI. December 31st 1975. Elvis arrived at the Hilton Hotel in Troy,MI. around 4:00 am while his musicians and other members of his entourage had begun to get there a day earlier.
More than 63,000 fans attended this concert and although the Pontiac Silverdome had a capacity of 90,000 seats, the upper third level was not used as the seats were too far away from the stage.
At 11:10 p.m., Elvis entered the Silverdome through a special long tunnel. The circular stage (two level) was especially designed for the occasion. Elvis was wearing the " Rainfall jumpsuit " that he previously used during his December '75 Vegas gig and used later on in some 1977 shows. During " Amen " Elvis knelt over the stage for reaching some fans and split the seat of his pants, he joked about it and mentioned that " 60,000 people, and they'll see what I have under my pants ".
Elvis kept performing for 20 minutes with the same jumpsuit but after " Polk Salad Annie " he had to change,so while J.D. Sumner & The Stamps sang " Sweet Sweet Spirit " Elvis left the stage and came back with another new jumpsuit from December '75, the " V-Neck jumpsuit ".
The show was pretty much similar to the ones he just gave in Vegas, some of the songs performed were : How Great Thou Art (with reprise), America, Trying To Get To You, Wooden Heart (a few lines), One Night, It's Now Or Never, And I Love You So and several others.
Happy New Year 1999 !!!
