Review

This is LuXor second outing and although it was previously scheduled for released in November 1996, we finally got it about two months ago, so it has been indeed a very very long time. A few years ago we were getting the closing show of that third 1976 tour on the CD entitled " Goodbye Memphis ", that latter show was better in several aspects when compared to this June 30th 1976 performance in Greensboro.

Elvis performance isn't bad and neither great, this is an average show with not too many highlights,if any. The CD starts with two tracks by the " Sweet Inspirations " recorded from the soundboard during the sixth 1976 tour, quite frankly I think this is a very nice touch of adding some performances of this excellent group, personally I have always thought the Sweets were offering more than a decent entertaining moments, especially since it wasn't an easy job as peoples were there for Elvis and nothing else.

Elvis' renditions of " America The Beautiful " is possibly one of the highlight, even though I've heard far better versions, " Blue Suede Shoes " isn't that bad either even though it's far from the magic of his early Vegas years.

As usual Elvis asked to turn the house lights up as he wanted to see the crowd, that moment being usually before doing " Funny How Time Slips Away ", after the lights were up Elvis says "Wow.... It's a big place man... " but at the same time you can clearly hear him says off mike "....and a place to get the f*** out of ",obviously these were for only peoples on the stage and also meant only in good fun, it was a punch line that certainly brought a smile on whoever heard it on stage.

The sound quality of this CD is nothing less than SUPERB, some other CD's had also an excellent quality but I think the mix on this one is far superior than usual and can only wish that the sound quality would be always like that, unfortunately it's not always the case and I have no need to mention any titles, you know as well than I what I'm talking about here.

This is a much better show than what we've got on " The Bicentennial Experience " or " America The Beautiful - Elvis Rocks The Golden Gate " from the same year, but this is an average show overall.

It's getting an above average grading, and this mostly because the overall product couldn't be labeled as a bad release, sound quality though is of one of the major reason why it couldn't get only three gold discs.
