Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan wasn't widely recognized in the U.S. until 1993, when Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was released. Four years later her popularity skyrocketed with the release of Surfacing and the Lilith Fair tour. Since Lilith Fair hit North America in 1997, Sarah McLachlan has graced magazines, newspapers, and TV shows. Everyone wants to find out more about the lady behind Lilith. I already know a lot about Sarah, and I've seen her on three occasions. I felt fortunate to see Sarah at Lilith Fair in Dallas last July and in October, and her performance at Lilith '98 enthralled me. For the Surfacing tour, Madeleine Peyroux and Lisa Loeb opened up for Sarah. Witnessing Sarah in concert was an incredible experience for me, something I want to hold on to for the rest of my life. She is a woman of such power, and her music strikes emotional chords within me. She gives the audience nearly three hours of herself, whole-heartedly, gracefully, and passionately. Not only is Sarah extremely talented, but she carries herself with poise and self-respect, and for that reason many people admire her. An outstanding trait of Sarah McLachlan's fans is that they all seem to possess the same extreme devotion for her, because her music has altered their lives in an unmistakable way. Sarah's musical legacy is one of the most inspiring, fervent, emotion-driven forces in my life, and one day I hope to thank her for that, face to face.
