To this occasion, who’s motto will be „25 Years of Porsche 928“, the Porsche club 928 Germany warmly invites all 928 owners, club-members and enthusiasts.
The meeting will begin on Thursday 12th September in the Hotel Nestor****. The Hotel is situated in the brick built, one time garrison bakery, which has been completely restored and is now protected as a monument. Not far from here you will find the residential castle of Ludwigsburg. The Barock town of Ludwigsburg is located 15km north of Stuttgart and has 85,000 inhabitants.
The car-park is immediately adjacent to the Hotel.
The evening meal on Thursday and the opulent breakfast buffet will be served in the hotel restaurant which also has a winter-garden.
Friday we will drive through winding and wooded roads to Maulbronn. There the 850 approx. year old monastery of the Cistercian order awaits us. During the guided tour of the medieval site we will learn of its beauty from cellar to steeple. The monastery is a harmonic masterpiece with many highlights and was registered by the UNESCO world cultural monuments in 1993. We will start in the stone vaults where the monks once stored their wine. We see the century old stone blocks which were hewn by the monastery’s skilled craftsmen. The “Paradies” (entrance hall of the church) like the dining room is a building of special significance.
Following the tour we will replenish our reserves by having lunch in the ”Klosterschmiede” (monastery smithy) restaurant.
That evening a Busride from Ludwigsburg to Großbottwar to visit the Bottwartalkellerei (wine cellar) is planned. After a tour and explanation we will taste several local wines with the buffet.
Saturday begins with a drive to Leonberg. Here we are expected by the Porsche tuners TechArt who have opened their workshops etc. to us.
Midday will see us in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen where the small Porsche-museum and the Porsche centre awaits our visit. A special experience is the lunch in the Porsche Canteen which without exaggeration puts many a restaurant to shame.
In the early evening we will meet with “Porsche personalities” knowledgeable in matters relating to the 928. During dinner in the hotel banquet hall there will be much exchange of opinion and information.
Sunday begins with breakfast and then a walk to the baroque style castle in Ludwigsburg, which between 1704 and 1733 was the seat of Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg. The style of the castle is influenced by Austro-bohemian architecture. A tour through the richly decorated rooms brings us to appreciate the Duke’s military background as well as his support for the arts. In the castle also is the site of manufacture of Ludwigsburg Porcelain founded by Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg in 1758. Finally we continue with a tour through the Belvedere-Schloß Favorite which lies north of the residential castle in the “Favorite-Park”.
To finish then it will be as said in Luxembourg EURO928-2001 “Say goodbye to old friends and new”.
The organisers and the Porsche Club 928 Germany look very much forward to welcoming you to the event.
