Lost Grandfather!! My dad's (Alvin D. Baker)father, George William Baker, was supposed b. @ Cross Timbers, Hickory Co., MO 10/1/1889. I can find no record of him or his two brothers there. His father's name is unknown, but he married Delia Jenkins, date unk. The father deserted the family when George was 12, and his mother was forced to "farm him out" to support them.

George's surviving brother's name was James (Jim) Baker, who settled in Minot, ND, after leaving the Air Force. The youngest boy, name unk., was killed while very young in an accidental shooting. George had a half-sister, Lena Coursin, when his mother remarried a Dallas Coursin, date unk.

They owned property in Irondale, MO, and George worked in STL, MO, area steel mills most of his life, after leaving Army. If you know any of these people and can help me get over this brick wall I've run into, please contact me! Any info I have, I will share. Thanks!! Shelia_Baker@Excite.com or

Will Baker married Emily Southall - probably in Morcambe or Barrow-in-Furness in England, and they had the following children:

Emily my grandmother, born 1898, Selina, Ethel, Edith, William and Ada. She always told me that there were many more - thirteen, a baker's dozen, but then she was always prone to exageration.

I'm looking for information on my grandfather, James Wesley Baker. He was born on June 30, 1888 and died January 1965. I don't know who his parents were. When he died he was at the house of some relatives that were named Blevins. I don't know what relatives they were tho. I'm just getting started with this search and it is proving quite addictive! My father was Dewey David Baker, born on June 29, 1922 and died on November 21, 1996. The social security death index has his birthdate wrong. The date they show is July 1, 1926, that is my mothers birthday, she's the one that gave the information for the death certificate. Is is possible to get that record corrected? Does any one know how I might do that? Thanks.
