I am trying to find more information on my Baker line. They were from Philadelphia. This is what I have:
Michael (also Michal or Michel) Baker b. abt. 1765,wife ~ Susanna. Children: Jacob b. abt 1795 Philadelphia.
Family claims they were English Quaker. No one has any further information of proof of this claim. I am trying to find out more about any of them, especially Michael and Susanna and their parents. It's been frustrating that my relative is Jacob Baker from the prime time the Baker hoax would have been taking place yet there's very little about him or his family. (I am NOT trying to pursue any inheritance!).
The names that I have were found in a published book years ago at a Family History Center, however, I didn't document the name of the book (I was new to this) and now I cannot find the book again. Recently, a relative sent me photo copies of pages from a family diary that was written in the 1930s that also listed most of these names (no spouses first names were used and no wives were listed other than Susanna).

Dear Sir
Being aware of your wonderful historical research,
I am sending you this mail to ask for your kind help.
My name is Gerard Dole. I live in Paris, France. I work at the Laboratoire
d'Anthropologie Visuelle et Sonore du Monde Contemporain of the University
Paris VII as a music historian specialising in 19th century american popular music.
Lately, I bought on ebay, a cabinet card of THE CORN COBB ORCHESTRA, taken about 1890 : five young musicians (fife, fiddles, celo and triangle) smoking corn cob pipes
On the back of the picture is written : in red pencil " Beckwith " - in black pencil " THE CORN COBB ORCHESTRA, about 1890 " and printed " Blakleslee & Moore, Photographers, Asthabula, O. "
I believe this is a most precious trace of local history which deserve much
respect and should be closely analysed to try and learn who the members of Corn Cobb orchestra were (obviously a play on words : corn " cob " pipes and the family name " Cobb ") and fully understand their musical
skills and repertoire.
Could you possibly provide more information about these fvive musicians? (names, dates and places of birth and death, their musical training, their musical reperoire, etc.)
I would be most grateful. It will be most valuable for my work and for
America's popular music history too.
I thank you for your time in reading this mail and I very much hope to hear
from you in the near future.
Kindest regards,
Gerard DoleDr Dole

Henry Rich born 1829 married Christina Baker in Richmond Hill, Ont. Canada and then settled in Innisfil Township. They had 7 children that lived and 4 that died very young. In 1883 Christina passed away and Henry married her Sister Elizabeth Baker in June of 1885, of which there were no siblings. Henry and Christina were my Great Great Grandparents. I have heard stories that both families had traveled from overseas. They had landed in the States and came up to Richmond Hill. I have heard that Henry was Dutch, but unsure. If anyone would have any information on either family names I would appreciate hearing from you. I have just recently found papers on the Hoax of the Heirs and claimants of the Estate of Bakers in family records of which infor. was sent by my Great Grandfather. Their is no further information prior to the marriage certificate and I was wondering how a person goes about tracing the information of where they were born, their family, etc. I would appreciate any infor on tracing this if anyone can help, thanks.
