PHOTOS #1 #2 #3 #4

I live in Southwestern Ontario Canada... close to the shores of Lake Erie...about 45 min.from Windsor We have warm summer days ...and usually cool evenings due to our lake location. Usually always a constant wind...and late and early frosts. Our soil or course is that lovely CLAY...So as you follow my journal...Please keep in mind what works for me ..May not work for you. I would appreciate any and all feed backs on my journal...and any and all tips or info would be helpful.

I harvested 200 mature seeds from Roid..516.9 lb..last year...self pollinated and mailed out seeds to P.E.I./ OHIO /PENN./MASS. waiting for a feed back on their progress.A few local growers...also have a few of my seeds.

PLANT REFERRED TO IN SEPTEMBER JOURNAL IS 'ROID"#2

SEPTEMBER 1 1999

Well here it is September already.....Not too many more days left for the big weigh day,....I am so happy ...I have been measuring 2x's a day ...just to make sure Roid is still growing ...he is exceeding my expectations for September growth...I may just have a chance to meet last years weight...and this will make me Pumpkin Queen of our Club.... I put 50. gals of HOT water a night on the plant(ground)...I'm out of rain water...so now I empty my hot water tank into the rain barrel every night ..to keep the ground temperature up...I used 2 1/2 cups of epsom salts in the 50gal.drum and applied this...then I alternate with 20/20/20. I am really pushing ...too late in the season about worry about killing the plant....I have treated the powdery mildew..and the ground heaters are plugged back in...overall...95% of the plant is extremley healthy...but still have cucumber beetles. I measured tonight ...and I am estatic....I don't know what has contributed the most to this last few days growth....But it's working...

MEASUREMENT TOTAL = 236"

4 DAYS GROWTH...GAIN = +11"
