Panzer General by SSi/Mindscape was the first of a whole series of strategy simulation from Mindscape. Followed by Allied General and Panzergeneral II .

In Panzergeneral you play the role of a general of the axis in WWII . After the start
1939 in Poland your career leads through all the mayor battles of WWII.
Theoretically you can make the germans win WWII if your are good enough to
withstand the much greater number of the allied forces including the russians.
Due to this possibility the game was banned in germany for some time.
The german tanks with better firepower were hopelessly outnumbered and additionally
supressed by the allied air-power.
Alone the chance to outsmart the superior strength of the allied forces makes the game
a challenge for every strategy fan.

The game was soon followed by Allied General
where you play the role of a allied General in WWII. The germans have already
occopied a great part of europe and now the allied forces strike back in europe
and africa.(The change of roles seemed to fit better in the political landscape)

Another beautiful wargame by SSI is Steel Panthers
Unlike the »general« series of SSi this game does not use hexagon fields for the units. The battlefield can be zoomed and also the graphical icons of vehicles and buildings. The detailed models of the vehicles make a lot more fun then the smaller icons on the
hexagon fields ot the »general« series.
