Chess

The fateful night, come and gone
When we could not dance as one
Awakened to each other at dawn
In life, it seems I am a pawn
Yet each night after you I've seen
I leave here feeling like a queen

Having seen things through your eyes
I suddenly can realize
I can move without restriction
Any distance or direction
With knights who'd move to my protection
And pawns who'd aid in our connection
Bishops prompting my reflection

And the King, one move at a time
Honourable, just, and so sublime
For you see, as you might guess
That life is like a game of chess
One right move or one wrong move
Does not the game win or lose
