DAKKOTA , a country rock band that has opened for national acts such as George Jones , Jerry Lee Lewis , and Travis Tritt , will take the stage March 19th at 8 p.m. in the Louisburg College Auditorium.



Originating in Elon College, N.C., DAKKOTA combines the melodies of country with the drive of Southern rock to produce the band's own distinct sound. Along with original material, DAKKOTA performs a collection of popular hits from artists such as Garth Brooks , Lynyrd Skynyrd , and The Eagles , as well as Hootie and the Blowfish .



DAKKOTA has entertained crowds from New York to Florida and was nominated for National Association of Campus Activities Country Music Entertainers of the year in 1995 and 1996. One of the band members, lead singer Joe Beckman, is from White Level in Franklin County.
