Bullet stopper. Standing 9 and 1/4' tall, this bottle is
embossed "E R Jones & Sons E U R Jones Bootle 52 Derby Road on the front. The
reverse is embossed with "Cannington shaw and Co Makers St. Helens." The bullet
stoppers pre date the Codds. They used a wooden stopper and rubber washer to
seal the bottles. Considered unsanitary as the stopper was hard to sterilize and was reused
each time the bottle was filled. Production stopped right after the introduction of the Codds.
Ca: late 1800's.
