Very rare pair of Alfs sodas. C. Alfs was a druggist on north King St., Charleston,S.C. in the 1840's. Bottled for only 1.5 years, these may be the first sodas bottled in North America. The larger blue bottle was the first to be produced. The pyramid shape led to a very thin neck prone to breaking. This led to the smaller black. Both these sodas have graphite pontils and applied lips.
