The whole story started in London, in 1967. Roger Taylor
answered an advertisement on the Imperial College Noticeboard.
A young band was looking for a drummer. And so "Smile"
was founded.
Tim Staffell, an art student, Brian May and Roger Taylor showed
a great talent. And one of Tim's strange friends was often seen, hanging
around and watching Smile's gigs. Smile would turn out to be Frederick
Bulsara's stepping-stone into stardome.
When Tim left Smile, Freddie was ready to take over. He changed his
name into Freddie Mercury and after long arguments, the band Smile
was now known as Queen.
(It was also Freddie who created the famous Queen Symbol you can see on
the background of this page.)
In 1971, they meet John Deacon. He became their bass player.
Over the years, Queen achieved everything a band could achieve. (e.g.
Bohemian Rhapsody (their breakthru)
was the first ever video clip and
the song is still one of the most famous songs in the world;
Queen became famous for their optical special effects, they changed
the entire music world; even in Japan they were treated like
Gods when they came there during their many tours; Critics of
the historic Live Aid Concert in 1985 said that Queen was showing the best perforance of
all artists; We are the Champions, one
of Freddie's masterpieces, is still heard at sports events - now, 20 years later!...)
[I have left out so many things. Forgive me, darling!]
The story ended in 1991. Freddie died on the 24th of November 1991
because of Aids in his house in London. The world lost a genius singer
and songwriter.
