ServiceProvider Q2 demos

O.K. , here is my attempt to post some Quake 2 demos. I have never done this before so I am not sure if it will work properly. If it doesn't work , please e mail me at jbosley@columbus.rr.com or just post a message on the Quake2 mailing list since that is probably where you heard about these demos in the first place.
Please keep in mind that I am just posting these demos to gain some feedback. I don't consider myself to be the world's greatest quake 2 player.

Here is a  link to another page of demos. This page    has demos of other people on it.

Also, for anyone who happens to be just surfing around, you must have Quake 2 installed on your computer in order to view these demos.

With that stuff aside, here are some thoughts on the demos:

The first 3 demos are ones that I win, granted these aren't the PGL finals or anything but none-the-less it always feels good to win.
The second three demos are ones that I don't win and are played on the RoadRunner (my cable modem service) server, and you aren't allowed to use swear words on this server !!! the server usually inserts a  *  symbol rather than a swear word.

Also, it seems that Tripod, the place where this page is posted, isn't exactly fast in the downloads department. So let me know if you have trouble downloading. If you are interested, I could send you these files via e mail.

Oh yeh, I like watching demos, so if you have any you want to send, feel free. I have a cable modem so the size of the file is no problem. Just send me a little message explaining the demo.

Anyway, give these a shot:

demo6.     I win this deathmatch. It is played in q2dm2 Tokay's Towers. game length is Maybe 10 minutes.

After further review, I have come to the conclusion that this demo isn't all that interesting. There are only about 8 people on the server ( I prefer the really crowded deathmatches where there are about 20 people).  If you are one of those bandwidth challenged people, you may want to skip  this download. It is only 660 KB but, as I said, there isn't much special in it. however, if you are a newbie to the Quake 2 deathmatch scene, there may be some things in it that you will enjoy.

demo7.       I  win this match also. There about 8 people in it. It is played in the Lava Tomb.

This demo has a little more excitement in it : I rack up a lot of frags with 2 of my favorite weapons, the rocket launcher and the grenade launcher. the size of the demo is about 600KB and the time is around 7 minutes

demo 8.      I win here also. This map, the Slimy Place, is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Same as the other demos, it is about 600KB, has around 8 people in it,  and lasts about 7 minutes. The neat thing in this demo is, on my 28th frag, I go into the slime for the sole purpose of getting more ammo ( the hyperblaster that some other guy dropped in there). I use that little tactic every once in a while.

demo 9 .   I don't win this demo: I come in third place.

This demo is about 350KB, takes place on Tokay's towers, and lasts about 5 minutes. There are at least 12 people in the game and it is the usual melee and struggle around the rocket launcher. Lots and lots of Rocket launcher action in this demo; nothing fancy though; go get the rocket launcher, kill, kill, kill, die, go get rocket launcher. But, I must confess, this the way I like it - fast and furious.

demo 10.     I get second place in this demo which is about as long as the previous demo. It takes place in the Frag Pipe.

There is a lot of railgun action on this level. I even pull off a few nice rails myself. My favorite part is when there is a guy who is ( in my opinion) camping  at the top of the ladder that leads to the rocket launcher. I think he kills me twice in a row, but then I respawn right beside the rocket launcher and proceed to walk over to where he is looking down on all the would be ladder climbers, and I give him a little jolt of the old RL. For some reason I never once go for the invincibility in this demo. I usually jump up to it. Even if it isn't available, there is a lot of health packs and a rail gun up there.

demo 11  I get third place in this demo also. It is played on the Lost hallways and is about as long as crowded as the previous two demos.

This is no masterpiece. I do at least three of those trusty 'backflips' into the lava. Then I get sidetracked by the people that are camping on top of the ladder that leads to the railgun, so I go running off to get the BFG, but when I get right by the ladder, someone pops me with a grenade. I thought I pulled off a couple good railgun shots in this demo. I also stumble upon a good idea: again, mad at the railgun campers, I get the Rocket launcher with the idea of rocket jumping into the main window of the railgun room. I make the jump just fine but when I get there the camper is gone. But I will file that move away and pull it out some other time.
