Tofu, a custard-like food made from soybeans, is a complete protein containing eight essential amino acids.
Selection & Storage:
Tofu is usually displayed in the produce department, where it is refrigerated. After opening at home, your Tofu bar should be kept in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Water should be added to the container in order to keep the Tofu from drying out. The water should be changed every day or so.
Preparation:
Tofu can be used as an affordable meat replacement in many recipes. It also goes well in stir-fried vegetable recipes, or can be used as a replacement for eggs or cheese.
Remember the Tofu you are buying has already been cooked, so reheating is all that is necessary.
Easy Recipe:
10.5 ounce package of Tofu, drained
2 medium ripe bananas
2 cups strawberries
Easy Steps:
- In a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients until smooth.
-Chill and serve.
