James Day arrived in l792 to build ships for Charles Robin. He later became a Justice of the Peace and signed many documents for Martin Sheppard, notary. He bought a grist mill which his sons worked at and passed down through the family.From E-mail: - Vallena Munro
James Day and wife Angelique brought to Paspebiac as Ship's carpenter to repair ships for Robin Co as they were losing too many ships to storm damage and had no dry dock in Canada. James Day built repair facility and within 2-3 years began building ships for the Robin Co in the "off months - winter" from the trees available at Paspebiac.

William James DAY became a minister and was sent by his widowed mother first to Montreal and then to New York and Philadelphia where he as educated and lived with family members. He wrote a short autobiography on the occasion of celebrating his 80th birthday and his golden jubilee in the ministery in 1920. In that Bio he states his grandfather (James Day) came "originally from the Isle of Wight, England" and came to Canada as an employee of the Charles Robin Fish Company.
