RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

Introduction:

        Restorative Dentistry deals with removal of bacterial decay from infected teeth, (before the decay has reached the pulp chamber) and then restoring the tooth to its original size, shape and preferably colour also, using various dental materials. The decayed and discoloured part of the tooth is removed using air-driven drill, a proper cavity form is given in the tooth, then an insulating base is given on the floor of the cavity and then the restorative material is filled in the space created, giving it shape, to resemble the original tooth contours. A tooth thus restored is able to serve for years without any problems.The various materials used for this purpose are -
