The secret revealed! I'm wearing what's called a "squib vest." Those red patches were
condoms filled with red Karo syrup for the blood. Underneath them were the squibs (tiny
explosive charges about the size of a grain of rice). These were then hooked up to a control
box with several of what looked like car batteries. A light spray of glue was then applied and my
shirt gently placed on top. When the director yelled "ACTION!!" the stunt/effects supervisor
pushed buttons to set off the charges as I fired off a gun filled with blanks. It was also my very first "death scene!"
