This Web Page has been created by AP English students, class of 1998. It is intended to supplement your thorough reading of the Inferno, to be used as a review for a test, or ideas for a paper. All of the information is subject to human errors and our personal bias. We hope it is of some help to you as you journey through this literary version of Hell.
PLOT SUMMARY
First Dante meets Virgil and he then follows him through Hell. The rest of the story is about their journey through the different sections of Hell. XXXXXX In the next ring are the souls of the incontinent (the lustful, gluttonous, and avaricious). They meet the violent souls next and progress deeper from the violent against neighbor, to the violent against self to the violent against God. Deeper yet are the fradulent souls: in the upper region those who have "betrayed the common bond of humanity" and in the lower, those who have deceived kinsmen, hosts, allies, etc. Finally, they arrive at the center of Hell to find Lucifer.
