1999 NAT'L CONFERENCE FAQ/OTHER INFO. PAGE

From Betty Jacobsen, Chair of the 1999 LPA Conference

When the Conference Committee prepared the registration packet we tried to make it as clear and concise as possible. As we receive registrations back, these are some of the questions and comments that are being asked:

REGISTRATION FEES: Family registration is intended to be per household. Single is one person. If two people live in the same household and do not want to be considered a family then 2 Single Registrations are appropriate. Registration fees are used to cover conference expenses that attendees are not directly charged for ie: Registration Packet printing & mailing; Name tags; Program printing; Nightly Dances; Workshop expenses; etc.

ACTIVITIES: Prices and ages for offsite activities are set by the individual activity. At one business they consider a 14 year old a child and another considers the same person to be an adult. We included this information when it was available.

HOTEL ROOM AVAILABILITY: The number of rooms blocked was based on past history of the number of rooms needed. Each night we booked more rooms then were used in LA. The conference is becoming so large that it is increasingly difficult to find a single hotel that is large enough and has room rates under $100/night. With 503 rooms, the Portland Marriott has the most rooms available in a single hotel in the state of Oregon.
