When Scott and I arrived home from the airport on
Tuesday afternoon, I found out he’d planned a picnic tea for us. That
was a lovely surprise! We drove to South Park and found a nice,
secluded grassy area on a hill where we put our blanket and got out
the food.. There was a hoagie for each of us (meat and lettuce and
tomato on a roll), potato salad, heavenly hash (a concoction of lil
marshmallows with pieces of pineapple and mandarins from a fruit salad
can I think, in sour cream). Scott had also brought along champagne
(a lovely sweet one, the sweetest he was able to find) and coke. He
even lit a couple candles and put them on the picnic basket where the
wax dripped everywhere (oops some heavy candle wax cleaning required
*grin*). We ate some food and drank some champagne. Then my darling
Scott got out a poetry book which he’d especially bought. He read me
some poems which were bookmarked by different "bookmarks" he’d done
on the computer. He’d scanned pictures and written things on each
one…like "lil lioness" on one, "sweetheart on another", "soulmate" on
another. These "bookmarks" were very oddly shaped and I soon figured
out that I was gonna have to assemble them because on the reverse side
appeared to be some sort of treasure map. Once Scott had finished
reading the poetry (which was so romantic!) I turned the pieces over
and sure enough, there was a treasure map. My cutie had conveniently
brought along plastic sleeves in which to put the completed map!
Anyway, the start was an "oasis" which I eventually figured could be
his swimming pool. We went home and at the swimming pool I figured
the numbers and lines meant paces in directions. I followed the
directions which ended up taking me into his room. Sitting on Scott’s
bed were a teddy bear and a box of chocolates. Scott told me that
he got me presents coz he couldn’t afford an engagement ring until he
got a couple pay checks. He asked if I’d like a chocolate so I
thought I’d open the box. I saw it was sealed and new and opened the
box. When I lifted the cover over the chocolates, in the space where
the middle one would have been was instead a little piece of cardboard
with a ring sitting in it! I was really surprised because the box
had been sealed…and Scott said he’d managed to convince a guy at a
computer game shop to shrink wrap over the box so it would look new
(he had to buy a game though so the guy would do it!) I was so
thrilled and took the ring out of the cardboard. It’s a perfectly
shaped three quarter carat diamond heart. Scott took the ring from
me and told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him and of
course I said yes, and then he slipped the ring onto my finger, and
it fit perfectly too! He told me he spent a lot of time looking for
the perfect ring and bought it about three weeks after I left at the
end of May *s* He has also bought a ring wrap which will go to either
side of the heart which he will give me at the same time as the
wedding ring (which we will go looking for soon, for matching rings).
So it’s finally official! Every time I look at my ring it just blows
me away that I’m really here and that Scott and I are really back
together forever. My life is a fairytale *happy sigh*
