Poetry from Micheal A. Lumpkin

Over the course of 10 years, Michael Lumpkin has been writing poetry. He has accumulated about a hundred poems ranging from personal feelings and hardships to the spirited. Lumpkin was born in 1978, and has come from a long line of writers, being a third generation poet. It was at the age 9, his fourth grade teacher, Mr. Hotz. who introduced Lumpkin to poetry. Lumpkin wrote a least one poem a week, competing with other classmates in weekly poetry contests. Lumpkin never won any of those contest, so it wasn't until he was in the ninth grade that he started to write again. His English teacher, Mrs. Wilsher, gave Lumpkin the renewed love for writing, and Lumpkin has been writing ever sense. By the 10th grade, Lumpkin was reading his writings at the school Writer's Cafe. It was here that he shined. Micheal soon became known in his classes for his writings, sometimes being asked to give impomptu readings. Micheal A. Lumpkin graduated from his local High school in June of 1996. He is now a Sophmore in college, where he hopes to comtinue writing. He is in the process of completing a short collection of his poems to be published. He is still writing to this date.
