CANDIDATE FOR ASSESSOR
Alphonse G. Begley is the non-partisan candidate for city assessor.  Mr. Begley needs no introduction to the majority of the taxpayers and voters of the city.  He has taken an interest in city politics for a number of years and has been a staunch worker for non-partisanship in the conduct of municipal affairs.  Mr. Begley is a native of New York City, but has long made Dubuque his home.  As a child he came to Dubuque county, coming as a ward of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Gotto, residents of Holy Cross.  After the death of his adopted parents, he came to Dubuque.  He has a family, is a taxpayer and shown a marked interest in all movements having as their aim a bigger and a better Dubuque.
Mr. Begley has pledged himself to perform the duties of the office.  If he is elected, in a capable and business-like manner.  He will look out for the interests of the property owners and give his whole time to the work of the office.  He has a good knowledge of the duties of assessor and is an assiduous worker.
