"George Moody had been Dorian's friend for 15 years and they often did gem deals together on a handshake. Dorian would sell the gems and they'd split the profits. As for the gun, Dorian had given that to a man to sell the night before the murder and it was later returned to our apartment.

"Whoever shot George Moody would have been covered in blood, yet no blood was found on our clothes or in the hired van we were driving. None of our fingerprints were discovered at the scene, just a 9mm shell casing which the police said came from Dorian's Glock.

"Would a trained bodyguard walk around Charlottesville with the murder weapon in his pocket if he had left an incriminating shell casing at the scene of the crime?" Lester's new lawyer, Lloyd Snook, said last week: "I have just learned about a witness, a neighbour of Moody's, who wasn't called to give evidence at either trial. She saw a couple in their 20's park a green car - not a van - a few doors from the Moody residence, then knock on Moody's door between 6 and 6:30 pm. If and when Dorian Lester gets a new trial, bringing in this witness will make a big difference."
