Okay, so you've never heard of Internet Relay Chat (IRC) before? No problem!



This wondrous means of communications was first created in Vaasa, Finland, in 1989. It's a bit like an electronic CB radio, where you can log in and chat across a global network to other users. You can join channels of any particular interest, chat with other people online, exchange files ... lots of things are possible. And you never know who you might meet ...
