Overview of #ArohaNui
#ArohaNui is a chat room on the Undernet, an Internet Relay Chat network. (For more information on IRC and the Undernet, go back and click on the "IRC Help" link from the main page.)
The words "aroha nui" are from the Maori language, the language of the original natives of New Zealand. Literally translated, it means "big love", and the words are generally taken to mean a term of endearment.
#ArohaNui was created by Dr_Who_9 and Fair_Lady. We are an IRC couple whom have had a relationship over the internet for the last few months. We created the channel partially as our "home" on the internet, where we welcome all visitors. In addition, it is a place with a distinct New Zealand flavour to it. If you are looking to learn about a different culture, have a love for New Zealand and its culture, or just want to make new friends and meet interesting people, then this is the channel for you!
At present, our channel is not yet registered with cservice, the governing body of Undernet. We haven't yet been able to build up our channel usage to levels that would warrant acceptance by cservice, so we're trying to build up the traffic through this website! If you enjoyed meeting us, be sure to tell all your friends about the channel.
If you are looking to find us, we are generally on after 10 pm Eastern Time, or about anywhere between 4 to 6 pm NZ time. Feel free to come in anytime and chat. If we're not in, you can leave us e-mail. We look forward to seeing you in our "home" on the net.
