Was born in England in 1623 or 24. He was at Dedham in 1647 when he married Alice Bacon of the town. She died in 1648, after giving birth to son Thomas who also died in 1648. His 2nd wife Elizabeth Mecalf, married in 1649 in Dedham. He was a Lieutenant in something. I don't know what.

He settled in Reading, Massachusetts and became a leading citizen. He was a deputy to the General Court at the time of his death. He had been selectmean of the town and a solder in King Philip's War. He built the fourth house in what is called West Reading.
