Chapter 18

"I'm going to the mall!," Rachel called out. Mrs. White was already at the hospital. Taylor was out of town, according to what Daisy had told her when she called a few days ago. So, Daisy was alone in the house. This would make her job even easier. Rach had planned it all very carefully. She'd leave, then come back a half hour. Then, it'd be over.

A half hour later, Rach slipped back into the house. Daisy was in the living room, watching TV. She snuck up behind her with the gun in her hand.

Daisy must've heard her coming, because she suddenly stood up, and turned around. When she saw Rach standing there with the gun in her hand, she screamed.

Rach was taken aback for a second, but quickly regained her composure. She raised the gun, and aimed it. She put her finger on the trigger, and pulled it.

As soon as the bullet hit her, Daisy collapsed. Her scream cut short. Rachel walked over to her. Daisy was still alive, just barely breathing. She raised the gun to finish the job.

"Why?, "Daisy choked out.

"You should have left him alone," Rach replied, coldly. She placed her fingers on the trigger. Before she could the trigger, someone grabbed it. Rach spun around. Taylor was standing there, with the gun aimed at her. The look in his ice blue eyes told her that he'd never love her. This realization made Rach faint dead away. (She's not really dead.)

Taylor threw the gun down, and ran over to Daisy. She was just barely breathing. He grabbed the phone and called 9-1-1. The guy took down all the information. He said he would send the abulnace immedaitely.

Meanwhile, Daisy was struggling to breathe. She knew quite possiblely that she could die. If that were true, he needed to know something. She had never told him, but if there were ever a time to tell him, this was it.

"Taylor? I need to tell you something," she choked out.

"What?," he asked. He was on the verge of tears. His girlfriend, and first love was dying. He'd never get over this pain.

"I love you. Always have, always will. Don't ever forget that, "she whispered.

He smiled. She had never actually told him, but he had sensed it. Now, she needed to know he felt the same way.

"I love you, too," Tay said. She smiled, and closed her eyes. The ambulance sirens were heard outside. They pulled up, ran in, and with everything they needed to stabilize her. Police officers gently led Rachel to a police car.

She was rushed to the hospital. Upon arriving there, she regained consciousness. She looked around. When her gaze fell on Tay, she smiled, and then she slipped into a coma.

The days passed, and Daisy didn't wake up. The docters were losing hope. Rach had been tested, and sent to a home for the criminally insane. She wouldn't be leaving for a long time.

Taylor spent all his tme in her room watching machines keep her alive. "This is all my fault," he mumbled. If he and Daisy hadn't been going out, Rach never would have done this. The more he thought about it, the more he was convinced that Daisy would have been better off without him.

He walked over to her and stared down at her. Her angelic face was slack. It showed no emotion. He wasn't sure it ever would again. As he gazed at her, he thought he saw her eyes twitch.

"No way," he breathed. Her eyes flickered oen. Her blue eyes silently stared at him. They were locked in a gaze that neither of them knew how to end.

Finally, Tay whispered, "You're awake!"

"Yeah, I'll never leave you," she whispered back. In that second, they knew that no matter what happened, she never would.
