What is the Eagle
Club?
The State of North Carolina does not fund extra-curricular programs at any state supported university. Those programs must be self-sustaining. It takes a great deal of money to run superior programs at the university level. For us, the greatest expense is the cost of scholarships to attract and educate gifted students who excel in specific extra-curricular activities. NCCU has to compete with more than 100 schools in North Carolina as well as hundreds nationally for the same students.
The NCCU Educational Advancement Foundation, commonly known as the Eagle Club, was incorporated in 1975 for the purpose of generating scholarship funds which are placed in an endowment and used to attract and educate quality students.
Why is your support
needed?
When you join The Eagle Club, your contribution does many things. Not only does it help to provide scholarship opportunities for many students, but your money also counts towards the university's statistics on private donations, thereby helping the university solicit and receive major grants for scholarships and programs. In addition, your contribution helps to improve the quality of extra-curricular programs that provide a vairiety of activities for the NCCU family and the Durham Community. Extra-curricular activities are often the most important contributing element in the climate of a university campus. They give the university and the community instantly recognizable models of the highly competitive world in which we live.

As an Eagle Club Member, you will be the recipient of many benefits, the most important of which are the intangibles, such as the satisfaction you will derive from your support of the receiver who leaps into the end-zone to catch the winning touchdown; the basketball player who makes a decisive gravity-defying monster dunk; the drum major who leads the Sound Machine Marching Band onto the field at half-time of the Homecoming game; or the cheerleaders who awe a crowd of 14,000 at the CIAA Tournament. As a contributor to these fantastic happenings, you will really be bursting all over with your "EAGLE PRIDE"!
