Kay's Poem

The pain... in my body, in my heart

Haunts me, taunts me, teaches me no lesson

The throbbing, the stabbing, are tearing me apart

Yet I hear that all of this is for a reason

What reason is there that a person should hurt

What reason is there that a person should feel tortured?

Is there something to gain by being victimized?

Or perhaps some cruel joke played upon us to amuse others

The doctors who take the oath to 'do no harm'

Break us, taunt us, tease us, and invalidate us

Where do we turn? Where is the release?

What to do with this pain that burns in all the parts of this body?

I say give it away.... take it away.... there are no solutions

There will never be health, nor wellness, nor true happiness again

For the memory of the pain will always return.
