The peacock has its beauty for many reasons. As a beautiful bird it is valued by people as a source of beauty more so than as a source of food. The eyes on the feathers of the peacock allow it to be percieved by the predator as a multitude of animals of a rather large size such that it would be less apt to attack and kill the peacock. This is called protective camoflaging.
