So I decided to do a degree in Commercial Art. When I signed up for the degree and went to the Fine Arts Department I was greated with we have a Commercial Art Degree here? I should have seen that signified another problematic area at this University. So I began trying to obtain a Commercial Art Degree at a University that only supported the Fine Arts. I spent all my sememsters trying to learn how to do things like realism to be graded down while students who simply smeared paint all semester on canvas recieved A's for their ugly works. I finally decided since the only things that made A's were ugly and abstract with rediculously high prices on them I would try to do something equally repulsive and wasteful. So I went to my apartment and began a sketch on posterboard. Eventually it became a painting...a very beautiful abstract. When I brought it to class everyone laughed at it and said things like it belonged in a disco (really out of date). So I took it home in humiliation. Eventually it ended up in my portfolio because I still liked it and eventually forgot about it. I brought my portfolio to my friends who were in Gainesville working on physics degrees. They wanted to see my art. Eventually I pulled out the beautiful abstract and my friend's boyfriend fell completely in love with it so much he offered to buy it from me. I was so pleased I just gave it to him. It is the first work of art anyone offered to buy from me. That work of art that everyone made fun of now hangs on the wall of a Physicist pHD.
