WHEAT RIDGE — Sigvard “Lefty” Carlson a longtime Western entertainer, died at Lutheran Medical Center Wednesday from complications after surgery for a burst aneurysm. He was 66. Mr. Carison, best-known as a Western trick roper, performed at events statewide for more than 40 years. He was an original member of the Westernaires. Born Sept. 22, 1932, in Attleboro, Mass., Mr. Carison moved to Colorado with his family when he was 9 months old. He once said he preferred the name Lefty to his given name because “coming out of the chute No. 1, you couldn’t use Sigvard; it doesn’t have that ring to it.” Services are planned for 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, at Arvada Presbyterian Church. -ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 6/7/99 Sent by Ken Schultz (1/19/03) CARLSON Sig "Lefty" Carlson of Denver.
