Stephane Trahan's Racing GTi VR6

[Trac GTI in Action]

This is the racing GTI VR6 of Stephan Trahan, the 1997 GT Champion. The modifications to this car are very extensive, after all it's a racing car.

[The engine bay]

The engine's breathing has been improved with Schrick cams and variable intake manifold, a Neuspeed throttle body, and Neuspeed P-flow with Ramair filter. Timing and fuel enrichment is controlled by a Neuspeed P-chip. Every piece of the engine has been reworked and balanced.

[Victory lap]

Here you get a good view of the wheels and tires.  Rolling stock are Momo mags mirage measuring 15 x 7" with a 3/4 spacer in front and back. The wheels are shod in Goodyear race slicks, 600 23 x 9 x 15 front, 430 22.5 x 8 x 15 in back.

[Stephane heads for the pits]

To put the power to the ground, he's taken the 4.24 tranny of a Passat TDI and slapped it in and added a Quaife Differential. The major work comes in on the suspension. He's reworked the suspension geometry and added Eibach springs wound on Bilstein shocks. He's also added adjustable camber plates front and rear, a Neuspeed roll bar in rear, and a Neuspeed front stress bar. As for the brakes, he's using the stock calipers with Hawk pads, Neuspeed brake lines, and a Willwood adjustment lever.

[The car strikes a nice pose]

The body work was handled by Carrosserie SL with fiberglass. This includes the hood, 3" wider fenders, 2" wider quarter panels and a monster DTM style front spoiler.

[Stephane Trahan in the no-nonsense interior]

As for the interior, it's all business. He's completely stipped it, making it 800 lbs. lighter! Other mods are 17 point custom welded rollcage, VDO guages, Momo seats, harness pedals and steering wheel.

This car was built by Stephane Trahan, Alex Baillargeon, Patrick Continelli, Sylvain Sabourin and Philippe Hinse all members of Trac Racing Team Inc.
