Challengers Stories (Part 2) Challenger had Stewards also but for some reason when they merged into Frontier the combined group decided to hire Stewardesses instead.  They were prettier than those hairy legged men were but I don't know that they did any better job.  I think many of the men accepted various jobs with the airline.  Some went into management.  A couple went in as dispatchers but I guess I never really did know any of the ex Monarch Stewards. There were things that male Stewards could do and did do for the airline that the female Stewardesses couldn't do.  I know on Challenger they did do a lot of baggage and mail loading and off loading at various stations.  The women either couldn't or wouldn't do that.  Heck, as I remember so did the copilot do a bunch of odd jobs like seperating mail bags so the correct ones got off at the right station and a whole bunch of stuff.  I can remember as a copilot getting out on the wing of the airplane and swabbing it down with a kitchen mop and a bucket of isoproplyl alcohol to deice the machine.  OH THE GOOD OLD DAYS.   :) Hope all is well with you and yours.   EP Lietz (9/18/99)
