"The word ALBERTANE
comes from the latin word alabertanamus, which means large and important.
Just Kidding! The word Albertane comes from the song "Man From Milwaukee."
The song is about an alien from Mars who lives in the capital city of Mars,"
(MOE issue 2)
Hanson is now on a US tour. Their opening
band is Admiral Twin, a local band from Tulsa, OK. I went to the Hershey,
Pennsylvania concert and here's the review.
I got to my hotel near Hershey and half the people there
were wearing Hanson shirts (The other half were there for a wedding. I
found that funny.). Hotel and car windows were covered with Hanson posters.
It was awesome and everyone was smiling at each other. There was a common
link. My family who came with me (sister, Mom and Dad) were totally
siked too. My Dad and sister wore Hanson shirts. On the way to the arena
the cars had their posters in the windows and blasting Hanson albums with
the windows wide open. Excitement filled the air.
Admiral Twin was very good. Excellent, in fact.
Their music isn't pop, more alternative. Some of their songs reminded me
of the Beatles. When they introduced themselves, Jarrod Golliahaire got
the most applause, probably because he wrote the biography.
There was a twenty minute break while the stage was
prepared for Hanson. During that pause, there was a mad rush for the souvinier
stand, where there was Hanson T-shirts, pins, calenders(including the 1999
one), and programs. Everytime a curtain rustled or a technician walked
across stage there were ear-piercing shrieks. I contributed. One techie
rustled the curtain and plucked guitar strings just to here us scream.
Finally, around 9, Hanson came on. They played their
Gimme Some Lovin'-Shake Your Tailfeather medley-thing as the curtain
rose. Everything was at a dull roar while they played but inbetween songs
you couldn't hear a thing. No wonder they wear earplugs! Taylor really
had a lot of energy. Even during the encore he was jumping up and down.
While they were introducing their back-up musicians, Taylor took over on
the drums (and was excellent) while Zac proceded to throw water balloons.
Hershey was the first concert on the tour where they played Sunshine
of your Love. Ike gave a solo performance on the keyboards and singing
More Than Anything from Boomerang. Also very excellent. Zac
had awesome changing color, glow in the dark drumsticks. During I Will
Come To You and With You In Your Dreams, people held up lighters
and swayed.
East Rutherford Concert Review
Again, Admiral Twin was awesome. They are a great opening
band. Rumor has it that they will open for Hanson's World Tour. I
noticed a lot more signs for them. They played the same songs as the Hershey
concert.
During the break, the girl sitting in front of me,
pointed to a box seat next to the stage. Hanson was in it! A whole bunch
of us in my section started waving our arms, hysterically. Taylor waved
back. Then we did 'Raise the Roof' and Tay did it back. My friend thinks
that he blew a kiss to her- I just let her keep telling herself that. The
Hanson's obviously wanted to tease us and flicked the lights on and off.
This carried on for about 15 minutes and then went on stage.
Hanson rocked as usual. Lots and lots of screaming.
The acoustic set had the instruments rearranged and the back-up musicians
gone. The background was Hanson's own "3 Car Garage" and most of the songs
they played were from that album. The songs were pretty much the same.
The finishing number was "Man From Milwaukee" because it's the ALBERTANE
tour. At the end of the song, Ike ran and slid across the stage. Then they
left. Two minutes later we heard Zac's voice. "Do you want us back?". They
came out again and did a three song encore. Then they did part of Weird
a cappella.
After the concert, my friends and I saw a bus. Jokingly,
we said it was Hanson's tour bus. Later, my dad showed me something he
taped off tv. They showed Hanson getting off their tour bus and it was
the same bus!!!
