Linds and Nick endd up sitting on the bleachers just to get some privacy. Maybe it wasn't much because the basketball practice was going on, but it was better than nothing.
"What do you wanna talk about, Nick?" Linds asked him sternly.
"Okay, here goes," Nick said and took a deep breath. "Before I start you gotta promise that you will not interupt me and just hear me out until I finish and then you can speak your peace. Deal?"
"Yea, deal!" Linds agreed.
"All right! Well, I wanted to explain the other day to you. Nicole came up to me and she seemed so desparate and she really liked me and asked me out for the same day that we were having our anniversary. I know it was wrong of me, but I said 'yes'. Nicole was putting all the moves on me. I should have never done what I did, but as stupid as I was, I fell for her. I know that you will never forgive me, but please give me a chance. Even if we can't get back together, can we at least stay friends?"
"Nick, I really dunno what to say to that," Linds commented. "I mean, it's really hard for me. How would you feel if that were me? Say I were to cancel our anniversary and go out to a club with Brian."
"You were doing something similar to that," Nick commented,
"What are you talking about?"
"Well, it just so happens that you and Brian fall in love. I understand if you are trying to get back at me, but...." Linds cut Nick off in mid-sentence.
"Nick, I can't believe you. This is not for any revenge!" Linds said getting angry at Nick for thinking she was getting back at him. "I am beginning to love Brian. He cares for me, too. He understands me and lets me talk, but you...." Linds trailed off.
"Linds, I love you! Please don't do this to me."
"Nick, I have to go. I am sorry," Linds said leaving because she couldn't take the pressure of Nick saying that she was trying to make him jelious.

When Linds walked into Journalism, she started to shed some tears. But by the time she was spotted by Mackie, Mackie came up to her.
"What's the matter?" Mackie asked.
Linds explained thw whole story to Mackie, word for word.
"I dunno what to do Mackie!"
"Lemme think," Mackie said. A few seconds later she came up with an idea and whispered it into Linds' ear and Linds agreed to it.

The next day Brian deove Linds to school with him.
"What's the matter?" he asked Linds as she was looking outside the window of Brian's car.
"Oh, sorry, Brian," Linds said coming back into reality. "I was just thinking."
"About what, may I ask?"
"Nick!"
"Oh, I see! Please tell me about it!"
"All right, but you can't tell anyone, promise?"
"Sure," Brian agreed. "I promise not to tell anyone."
"Okay," Linds said and told Brian what happened with Nick and Mackie's idea.
"Don't you think it is a bit crutial?" Brian said when Linds was done telling him the story. "I guess you really do love Nick to be doing this, don't you?"
"Yea, and I really like you, too. I dunno what is wrong with me these days. I can't love two people at the same time."
"Linds, chill a bit! I reallt like you, but I don't want us to be together like this."
"What do you mean?" Linds asked while shedding some tears. By now, she was looking at Brian with a conserned look on her face.
"You're a great friend of me and so is Nick. Face it! The two of you are destined for each other. I was talking with Nick after you did. He really loves you. I can't come between you guys. Please give Nick another chance or try Mackie's idea, but I wanna be your friend. Consider me someone to come to when you have problems."
Linds was overwhelmed by what Brian said. She was crying because she was happy about it. "Aww.....Brian, that was so sweet. I wanna stay friends with you. You're like the best guy friend I ever had," Linds said and gave Brian a hug.
A few minutes later they arrived at school and both got out of the car.
"Thanks for the ride, Bri!"
"You're welcome Linds. I gotta jet now because I gotta hang with the guys to practice for The SweetHeart Dance. Do you mind if I go?"
"Naw! Go right ahead," she said.
"Catcha later," Brian said.
"Bye," Linds said and Brian was running off.

Linds went into the building and spotted Mackie. "Hey Mackie," she said.
"Hey, Linds. How are you?" Mackie asked.
"That is what I am trying to figure out. Brian drove me to school today and we were talking about Nick."
"What happened?" Mackie asked with a concerned look on her face.
"Brian and I broke up. He told me how much Nick loved me and and Nick and Brian were talking. Brian and I are still friends."
"Oh, well! Good luck with Nick and congratulations with Brian."
"Thanks," Linds said just as the bell for first period rang. "I gotta go, Mackie."
"Okay, Bye Linds," Mackie said. "But remember my idea."
"Oh, yea! That's right. They guys are practicing at Nick's house at 4:30 this afternoon. Tell Alyssa to be there then."
"Will do," Mackie agreed. "Bye," she said and went off to first period.
