1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. shortening
1 C. sugar
1 C. milk
2 T. cornstarch
1 t. vanilla

Add milk to cornstarch a little at a time, then cook over med. heat until it boils. Remove from heat. Next cream butter, shortening and vanilla until fluffy, add sugar a little at a time beating well after each addition of sugar, till sugar is all gone. Add very warm milk mixture a little at a time beating well after addition. Cool for a few min. and then spread on cake.
