2/3 to 1 C. sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1 C. water
3 C. cut up fresh fruit and juice
1 C. flour
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
3 T. shortening
1/2 C. milk
cinnamon

Mix sugar, cornstarch. Gradually
stirring in water. Bring to a boil
and boil 1 min., stirring
constantly. Remove from heat. Add
fruit and juices. Pour into a 1 1/2
qt. baking dish, dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Stir flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture looks like meal. Stir in milk. Drop by teaspoonful onto hot fruit. Heat oven to 400 F. Bake for 25 to 30 mins. Sprinkle top with a little sugar when you first take it out of the oven. Serve warm or cold.
